Taking a leap of faith – from marketing to the mat

So… it’s official. After 15 years in my marketing job, I’ve handed in my notice! 😳

I’m going all in and focusing on Yoga in the Cabin full time! Just typing that feels a bit wild.

When I launched the cabin, I thought it would take a couple of years before I could even think about doing yoga teaching as my main job. But somehow — only six months in — it feels like the right time. Something in me just knows I’d regret it if I didn’t take this leap now.

It’s a huge change. For the first time in my adult life, I won’t be “employed.” I’ll be financially dependent on Jason (my extremely supportive husband), which feels very weird! But honestly, he’s been my biggest cheerleader through all of this — always saying, “You can do it, go for it!” I’m endlessly grateful for his support as I navigate this next chapter.

And to all my wonderful customers — thank you doesn’t even begin to cover it. Every single person who’s booked a class, rolled out their mat, and shared this space with me — you’ve made this possible. Without you, there simply wouldn’t be a Yoga in the Cabin!

A little yoga wisdom

Beyond the mat, yoga offers us a huge philosophy about how to live a happy and healthy life. One of the lessons it teaches us is Aparigraha, which means non-attachment — the art of letting go. On the mat, that might mean not forcing a pose, not clinging to what it “should” look like. Off the mat, it can mean trusting yourself enough to release what’s comfortable, to make space for what’s next.

That’s what this feels like for me — a big exercise in letting go. Stepping away from the safety net of a steady job and trusting that it will be OK. Just like when you wobble in tree pose — if you breathe, focus, and stay with it, you eventually find your balance again (although that Tree pose option seems a lot less scary right now!).

So here’s to deep breaths, new beginnings, and taking the leap when your heart tells you it’s time.

Thank you again — to Jason, to everyone who’s supported the cabin so far, and to everyone who believes in this little dream. It means the world 🙏❤️
